Hi all,
The suggestion by Mark works very well. It seems to me that the real
decision is whether to fly into Madrid or into Northern Europe. If
Madrid then Mark's option is great and San Sebastian is, to me, one of
the world's most beautiful towns and well worth an overnight stay. If
you fly into Northern Europe the UK for example you can then fly into
Biarritz or Bilbao which as Lynne says in another post is great for the
Guggenheim. Biarritz is great because it's also fun to visit but also
it's very east to get to SJPdP from there via the train from Bayonne
which is only a short bus or taxi ride from Biarritz airport. You can
find most of the options on my website page Getting Here

The train leaves at approximatel 1:00pm. It is a great ride with wonderful scenery and most of the passengers are pilgrims. Great way to start the pilgrimage.
