I've been roundly, and rightly, taken to task for misstatements in a previous message.? Sorry!
In fact, Spain did win the Euro tournament 44 years ago, in 1964, against the Soviet Union. Ttwenty years later, in 1964, ?the Spanish team did reach the finals, but were defeated by the French.
It seems that Spain reaches?Euro Cup splendor?once a generation. Let's hope this year is the one.
Sorry for the misstatements?brought about, no doubt, by a serious case of Cava hangover.
