[Gocamino] Credentials, etc.

Hello you all,

There is no official charge for Archdiocese-issued credentials, although some localities may, and do charge something for it.  I was not charged anything for mine in Roncesvalles, other than a voluntary "donativo" (donation), which a few of the other would-be pilgrims getting one at the same time did not make.  The people in Pamplona did ask for 1 Euro for the credential.
The Cathedral in Seville, again, asks nothing for the credential, (which is the Archdiocese's one), other than a "donativo"; the Association of Camino Friends in Seville, and the bar "Miami" which is its unofficial seat, does ask for 1 Euro for the special (and very nice) Via de la Plata credential.
We all know that the Pilgrims Office asks absolutely nothing for either the Compostela or the Pilgrimage Certificate.  They have a tiny tin can on the counter for "donativos" which few pilgrims make. Such donations do not cover one hundredth of the cost of running the office and printing the documents..

The suggestion that the new rules about the official credential have a money-making purpose are absolutely unfounded  and terribly unfair.  Private albergues may, of course,  accept whatever credentials they deem proper, but the albergues under the purview of the Xacobeo people will only accept the official one when the rules go into effect. Nor will non-official credentials will be considered for the granting of the Compostela.

But then, why would any pilgrim who dislikes the Archdiocese's conduct of Camino efforts would want an Archdiocese-issued document anyway?

Oh well!

Rosina
