Hello you all,
Today's "Voz" reports than an outfit called "Eroski Foundation", at the behest of the Xacobeo people, ?conducted surveys of pilgrims, and others,?to find out how pilgrims feel about the albergues in Galicia.
The survey showed that the albergues, and hospitaleros, prized highly by pilgrims are, in order:
1. Baamonde in the Norhtern Camino. The Hospitalera, Conchi Prado, received the most accolades.
2. Fonsagrada, in the Primitive Camino and its hospitalero Victor Lombardine. Pilgrims also had the greatest praise for the help?of the Civil Guard in assisting pilgrims with information, guidance and advice.
3. The albergue in Lugo, in the Northertn Camino, and its? hospitalero Jose Antonio Otero.

The Baamonde albergue, built out of ancient carriage houses, was considered the best preserved and its hospitalera the most attentive, as well as very amiable and "charming".

-Perhaps the Sobrado Monastery albergue, run by Benedictine monks, was not included in the survey. I, for one, think it the most impressive, in every way, in the Northern Camino-.

The newspaper also carries an article recalling that last Holy Week the Archidioceses sought to protect the Portico de Gloria from further deterioration
by putting barriers around it. It seems that some pilgrims, or tourists, would not be deterred from putting their hand in the ancient hand-mark, or butting heads with Maestro Mateo, and to do so have climbed?the barriers or otherwise attempted to reach the central column.? Because of this, and in view of the large number of pilgrims expected henceforth, the prospect of surrounding the entire column with a high, and firmly affixed,?protective glass screen is becoming pretty likely.? (Sigh!).

Regards,

Rosina?
