Hello you all,
Manuel Fraga, the recently re-elected octogenarian President of the Galician Xunta and all its provinces, presided yesterday over the presentation of "the greatest written work on the Camino since the Calixtino Codex".

For some years the Hercules publishing house has been working on a 25 volume Camino de Santiago encyclopedia. President Fraga exalted that the encyclopedia will contain and impart the maximum knowledge ("summa") of the Camino presented in a form both profound and entertaining.

The first eight volumes became available yesterday. Vol. 1 covers the origins of the Xacobean pilgrimage; Vol. 2 is devoted to the Santiago Cathedral and its intrinsic ties with the Camino; Vol. 3 covers the City of Santiago and its Xacobean beginnings and purposes; Vols. 4, 5 & 6, contain the history, description and related subjects of the Camino Frances (French Way), and Vols. 7 & 8 do the same for the Via de la Plata (Silver Way).

While the available volumes can only be obtained in Spanish at the present time, the president of the publishing company, Francisco Rodriguez, expressed his company's desire and intention to make the publications available in other languages, particularly French, Italian and German.

Because the writers and editors had unlimited access to historical documents and publications collected through centuries and centuries by religious and governmental authorities, the books are surely to be a treasure.

Warm regards,

Rosina
