Ana,

Unfortunately, it is the only the last 100 km from any direction that counts 
for the Compostela. You could walk from Paris to Sarria, then take a bus to 
Santiago and not get a Compostela. It's just the final 100 they look at, 
along with the checkmark for 'religious or spiritual' motivation.
