Jeff,
I haven't been in Bilbao for a couple of years (the museum is a must-see),
but the airport is far from the train station...
What is near the train station is an alberque and an office where your
credential can be stamped (near the Cathedral). I don't know if they
actually issue credentials there, but they did have a lovely photo display
of the Camino.
I stayed at El Ducque, which is near the museum....and a hike from the
trains...perhaps a good google search or another goCaminoite might have
better info, but know the airport is a distance....
The view in of those great Basque houses (white with red tiles) is pretty
special...and you get to see what you'll be climbing.

Dear Friends,
I am planning to pick-up the Camino in Pamplona this June. I am flying into
Bilbao from Heathrow late in the evening and I want to catch a bus (or
train) to Pamplona the next morning so that I don't lose any time. I have
never been to Bilbao and I don't know how far the airport is out of town and
I would like to book a room near the bus station or train station for my one
night there.
Does anyone have experience with doing this?
Sincerely,
Jeff
