You said that you had new bikes.  Are you saying that your husband wore out his brake pads between Pamplona and El Acebo?

If so, something was very wrong as that shouldn't happen.

  Also, bicyclers should carry an extra set of brake pads.  My husband spent an hour in El Acebo adjusting his worn out pads.  It was a scary descent until we got to a bike shop in Ponferrada
