While at the Refugios, I suggest and recommend that you (the pilgrim) seek out "el Libro" -- a ledger book in which the itinerant pilgrim can scribble his thoughts and prayers and ideas and drawings.  As you proceed along the camino, you can read the written musings of those who have passed that way before you, and perhaps leave a note of your own.  Once I discovered that most (if not all) refugios had those libros, I made it a point of seeking them out.  Reading them was one of the joys of the camino.  Ask the hospitalero.
