While I risk prolonging a debate that is not relevant to this list, I really
feel the need to answer couple of the points Charles made in his latest
email:

The earlier response may not be logical but is fact.  I am a white
Australian, living in a country invaded by the English 200 years ago, and
whose Indigenous population had lived here for over 40,000 years.  Yet we
Westerners imposed our, socalled, enlightened culture on these people to the
point where they had either to assimilate into the Western culture or
perish.  This position is continuing and, I suspect, also occurs in other
Western countries (USA, South America, Canada?).

Islam does not practice this, only the fanatical few.  And fanatics and
fundamentalists occur in all major religions including Muslim, Christian,
Jewish or Hindu.  Just look at the histories and current events of Northern
Ireland, Israel and India.

That's all I have to say on the matter, and will now go back to lurking, and
hoping that we can continue a more peaceful discussion on the topic that
brings us, with our diverse backgrounds, together - the Camino.
