I suggest you contact the Confraternity of St James in London at
www.csj.org.uk for up to date and practical Camino information. Shirley
is a good summer read but that's about it. I walked the Camino Frances
in '01 at age 56 and went back in '02 and '03 as a Hospitalero at the
Confraternity Refugio in Rabanal del Camino in western Leon. I'm
currently planning on biking the Camino, possibly the Via de la Plata,
but am still in the early stages.

Let me know if you need anything re the Camino. I'll try to help.

Hello, everyone! I just joined your listserv last night and I wanted to
take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Michelle Rockett and I
live
in Northampton, Massachusetts, USA. I first learned about and became
interested in the Camino about two years ago while reading Shirley
McClaine's book "The Camino". I was intrigued with the Camino's history,
the personal stories, the energetic shifts . . . I felt in my heart that
I
too must walk its path, but the time did not feel right. Over the last
6
months I have been finding myself talking about the Camino in the most
unexpected situations and have decided the time has come for me to
experience the Camino myself. I recently connected with a dear friend
who
is being called to walk its path as well, and we are in the begining
stages
of planning a trip for 2005. Due to the schedule of the University I
work
for and she attends, we are thinking of starting our journey in late May
or
early June. My knowledge of the Camino, at this point, is limited to
the
information in Shirley McClaine's book. I am grateful to all of you for
investing so much time in such a wonderful resource. I am looking
forward
to learning from your experiences and knowledge, so that I may
appreciate
and enjoy the Camino in its fullest sense.
