It seems that the numbers go up each year at an ever increasing wait, so you might have a long wait for the "faddish popularity" to fade.  On the other hand, it was mentioned that there is a dropoff after a holy year, probably because many of those who planned it as a "some day" event made a point of going then.

  Admittedly, I think everyone who can should do the Frances at least once. I plan to repeat it in the future, after it's current faddish popularity has died a bit. Someone mentioned 2007. That might be a good year to repeat the Frances, for me.
