Hello you all,
Last month 1,017 pilgrims received the Compostela. Exactly one third,
339, were women and the rest were men. 929 pilgrims walked and 88 rode
bicycles.
More than 95% of the pilgrims, 970, declared a religious motive for
making the pilgrimage and 47 declared an educational/cultural purpose.
The number of foreign pilgrims, 578, was larger than the 439 pilgrims
from Spain.
From France came 133 pilgrims, followed by 70 from Germany, 51 from
Canada, 31 from Brasil, 31 from the United States, 28 from the United Kingdom,
25 from Switzerland, 23 from Austria, 23 from Japan, 20 from the Northern
Countries, 18 from Holland and 121 from 25 other different countries
100 pilgrims were over 60 years old, 275 were under 30 years of age
and 642 were between 30 and 60 years old.
191 pilgrims started out in Saint Jean Pied de Port, 149 in
Roncesvalles, 93 in Sarria, 92 in Le Puy, 58 in Leon, 57 in Pamplona, 38 in various
towns in France, 36 in O Cebreiro, 35 in Astorga, and the rest, in smaller
numbers, in Villafranca, Burgos, Ponferrada and other sites.
928 of the pilgrims followed the French Way, 33 the Portuguese Way, 33
the Northern Way, 21 the Silver Way, 1 the English Way and 1 the Primitive
Way.
Again, these numbers represent only those pilgrims that requested and
received the Compostela, and not, in any way, all the pilgrims that may have
been in the Camino during the month.

Warm regards,
Rosina
