Lack of Diversity on the Camino

Maybe we should establish a Comittee to look into it !

Maybe we should establish grants to encourage such "Diversity", perhaps to be paid for by other pilgrims from around the world who have choosen to save up their money so that they might walk the Camino de Santiago.

Perhaps, out of a sense of collective Guilt we should all turn over large areas Spain to the Moors for the unfair way they were treated. Perhaps 40 hectares and a goat.

Doug, get your Ph.D. out of your arse and get into the real world.

The Camino IS diverse. Walk it if you want to walk it, but leave the quotas back at home. You will meet wonderful people from both sides of the equator, from all continentents, from all parts of the world. You will hear many different languages, and you should learn and profit and grow from every person you encounter. You can rest assured that if people along the camino do not like you, it is because of YOU, not because of any hue of skin color. One other thing, if you have the attitude that "the Basques are a mean lot", I suggest that you commence your pilgrimage to Santiago at the 100 km marker, as far away from Basquelandia as possible, and walk due west to Santiago. That way you will stand a lesser chance of encountering any Basque people.

PS: If this was a troll-message, I fell for it completely.

Subject: Lack of Diversity on the Camino

Are Negroes allowed on the camino?

I have been watching the webcam at Irache for about two weeks and am deeply
troubled by the lack of black faces beaming up at me from the drinking
  place.

Is it a "Whites Only" water fountain?

Do the Spanish, particulary the Basques, discourage brothers from the trail?

Now I know that these Basques are a mean lot, given to blowing up whatever
annoys them, and I want to steer clear of any problems when I make my own
  pilgrimage.
