Hi:

I was thinking about beginning in Paris first (we are going to Santiago in May-July 2003) but as it is mostly roads and highways what you can find in the way, we'll have decided to start at Vezelay.I know that at Vezelay that start is the Cathedral.

At Paris I am not sure. I have heard that the few pepole that walk from Paris start either at Notre Dame or at Saint Sulpice. (If I remember right, there is a fountain at Saint Sulpice) I was thinking about starting at Saint Germaine des Pres, which is the oldest cathedral in Paris, the first stone was laid at the time of the Romans.

I saw a very brief comment about Chemin de Saint Jaque at the Mairie (Municipal building) at Rue Rivoli. Maybe you can find that information at the tourist office there.

I also remember a little church dedicated to peregrins somewhere in Paris but don't remeber exactly where. I am sure you can find that info in the tourist office or the Mairie web site: http://www.paris-france.org/

Hope that's of some help.

Lia
