Michael: we took the train from Leon to Ponferrada this summer to get
through a rainstorm. At least two trains daily, probably more. Fifty
miles....1 plus hours. Consider starting from Ponferrada....Templar
castle...Beautiful grape-growing countryside enroute the 20 miles or so
to Villafranca. Plus you get the bonus of Cacabelos enroute, one of my
favorite towns along the way with a great refugio!...bob
