Santiago/ the name

At one time, centuries ago, Spain and Portugal were united, as in fact, their
ruling families had been, and continued to be, for centuries (Queen Isabel's
mother, for instance, was from Portugal.)
Because of ethnic-phonetic transmutations, the erstwhile "Iago" became
"Tiago" in Iberia.... whence San Tiago (Saint Tiago).
The name Tiago is very much in use today both in Portugal and Brasil.
The word Pamplona is reportedly derived from the Latin word.... pompaleo, and
marked the end of the old Via Romana VI in Iberica.
