Hi,

I've got Eccos, which have the advantage of being
virtually broken in when you first buy them, they're
so soft. And there are several models available. I
happen to have a man's model and they served me very
well on my first trek. My problems, I believe, had
nothing to do with the boots, really.

They're so comfortable that you forget you're wearing
hiking boots. Mine are also waterproof and believe me,
they were tested. My feet didn't get wet once.

The only challenge, I believe, is that the soles may
not hold up on slippery slopes. I mean they're not
damaged or anything, they held up. But I wonder if
another pair would have had better traction. I just
hiked some of a Japanese pilgrimage recently and my
friend was wearing simple Hush Puppies and she was
able to hold onto slippery rocks uphill a bit easier
than I was - and she didn't have a stick, which I did.

Still, I have no complaints about my Eccos. I can't
imagine having to break in another pair the usual way.
They just don't need breaking in and to me, that's a
very important part.

Good luck with whatever pair you decide. Just try
several. Take some home (they'll let you in good
stores) and wear them around. Your feet will really be
the ones to decide! ;-)

Buen Camino!
Ana
