1 Pr Boots or 2 Pr. Boots

I was not dismayed to find that my heels were worn down that soon. As I remember, the author of "The
Compleat Walker" tells of completely  (compleatly?) wearing out several pairs of heavy hiking boots on
his thousand mile trek of the Pacific Crest. When I got home, I had another set of new heels
installed  on the Alamosos and continued to hike in them on the trails around home. I did buy a new
pair for my upcoming second pilgrimage. The lugs on the soles of my old pair are rather thin by now
and I didn't think that I would be happy with a resoling job. Both sets of new heels were without
lugs.
