>Dear MaryAnn,

Your statement that your husband wants to go on the Camino to reconcile
his Catholic upbring was the same reason that took me on the camino five
years ago. It wasn't until I arrived at El Cebreiro where the legend of
the believer and the unbeliever played itself out that I was finally
able to reconcile with the faith of my childhood. Recently I recorded
the inner process that I experienced as I walked the camino. Your
husband might find it worth reading. It begins...
"It was the year I turned 62 as I
walked the 800 kilometers of the ancient pilgrim's route, El
Camino de
Santiago, that winds its way over the Spanish Pyrenees
across the high
Masada and out to the Atlantic ocean. Following the
way-markings of that
tenth Century well worn path , through towns with wonderful
Medieval
names, I was indelibly imprinted with the archetype which
now informs
my life. For since that time I live my life as one who
travels though, asking directions, giving what I can,
befriending when it feels right, treading lightly on
the earth. This is an account of that imprinting."
