Re wild dogs...in 97' when I walked I had two occasions when sheep dogs were
threatening.  Both times I was able to stare them down while holding my
walking stick pointing directly at them.  The second occasion there were
three dogs, so they had me worried for a bit but fortunately the shepard
showed up and called them off.  Another good reason for having a stout
walking stick.  Jim
