PRACTICAL MATTERS

Excellent advice from E. O. Pederson. The only thing I might add, is carry
as little as possible. I would take a sleep sheet instead of a sleeping bag
to cut down on weight the next time I go. You can buy them at camping stores
or make one by sewing two small size sheets together. Many refugios supply
bankets and you can sleep under clothing when they don't. Also, a small
light, quick-drying camping towel is great. They are available at camping
store like EMS on the internet. Bed, bath & Beyond heree in NYC also sells
them. I know it seems mundane to add these, but anything that cuts down
weight will be a godsend. (Whoops, hope I didn't use the wrong word on
listserve!) Howard Mendes NYC
