Hey, Town Food,

Thanks so much for the help!

I called Sherry at the Jawbone Station Visitor Center at the corner of
Highway 14 and Jawbone Canyon Road, 760-373-1146, address 28111 Jawbone
Canyon Road, Mojave, who was very helpful. They are open 7 days/week from
8-4 (except Christmas & Thanksgiving.) She suggested stopping by to get a
map from them.

After stopping by, she thought the best way to get to Yellow Jacket Spring
was to continue up Highway 14 for 20 or 25 minutes, then turn onto SC65
which will take you up to the Spring. I’m providing all these details in
case anyone else needs to (or wants to?) get up to the Spring.

I will pass that on to my Inyokern Trail Angel and to Pam, Rob’s friend,
who herself just finished her last PCT section last August. Maybe one of
these days I will join then with a totally completed PCT hike!

Happy trails,
Sunshine/Susan

Hi Susan,

I can't say I've tried this. But based on maps, I think the road in
question is "Horse Canyon Road", which becomes Forest Rte 27S11 closer
to the spring. It looks like Horse Canyon Road can be accessed via Dove
Springs OHV area, which has an entrance on Highway 14. But again, I
haven't tried this -- there may be gates in the way.

The BLM has some information about the OHV area on their site:
https://www.blm.gov/visit/dove-springs-ohv-area

In particular, they suggest calling the Jawbone Station Visitor center
with questions about the area, at 760-373-1146. Maybe they'll have a
better answer.
