The next paragraph is quoted from joel boney's message last March.  It applies
to me as well.

"If you feel this news group should only be used for purely technical issues
then I apologize for the following announcement. But you (the readers) are
probably the most qualified persons to fill this job and it seemed like a waste
of everyone's time to use the usual `job posting' news groups."

Taligent, Inc. in Cupertino, California is looking for an excellent engineer
with IEEE 754/854 floating-point experience.  This is a brief job description:

As individual contributor in a team of five,
*  specify, design and implement floating-point subsystems in Taligent's system
software and multi-platform C/C++ compiler,
*  design, and implement NCEG/IEEE floating-point libraries for Taligent's 
compiler, and
*  work closely with third-parties to build high-level class libraries for
numerical and mathematical vertical-markets.  

This includes development of:
*  base-level floating-point with common functionality across a number of
hardware platforms, and
*  algorithms for elementary functions and possibly for general-purpose vector,
matrix, and simulation libraries,
*  object-oriented interfaces in C++.

Requires an advanced degree in computer science or mathematics and
directly-relevant previous industry experience.  Must program in C or C++ and
at least one assembly language and have several years MPW or UNIX experience.

Taligent is a recent startup formed jointly by IBM and Apple to build a fully
object-oriented, platform-independent operating system.
