Since the lecture notes are in LaTeX, I would be delighted if the
principal author, David Goldberg, and Prof. Kahan agreed to distribute
them in source form to numeric-interest.
I would be even more delighted, however,
if Goldberg wrote them up in a comprehensive monograph for commercial
publication.
Kahan has numerous research notes written for a particular combination
of word processor and printer for which perhaps only one system remains
extant. He might entertain proposals from volunteers willing
to carefully translate them into a more public form such as LaTeX or
troff source that can be readily disseminated. If interested

Shing Ma did a number of these translations for the floating-point
indoctrination lectures. They were quite time consuming. You start from
a PC diskette and figure out how to duplicate the equations and
figures. Anybody interested in learning how he did that
should communicate with maaeng.sun.com after March 1.
