C 1.0 promo

My guess is that the promotional pricing is to ease the transition
from bundled to unbundled C. C 1.0 is still PCC rather than ANSI-C.
C 1.0 was developed from SunOS 4.1 bundled C, which froze much
earlier; the new development most interesting to me is in the area
of new options: -cg89, -ffpaplus, -libmil, -fnonstd, -dalign, -fast.

II.	Announcement Details

As part of the April 18th announcement of the SPARCompiler product
family, the new enhanced C compiler was announced as an unbundled
product. By unbundling the C compiler, we will be able to get to
market quickly with the latest compiler and tools technology, giving us
the competitive edge. A C compiler will continue to ship with SunOS 4.1.
Sun C 1.0 will be the basis for all future C compiler performance
improvements and feature enhancements. Sun C 1.0 is the only C
compiler available with Sun's new SourceBrowser development tool.

To promote the sale of Sun C 1.0, Sun is announcing a 6-month
pricing special. From now until September 30, 1990, Sun C 1.0
will be available for $500/A quantity 1 - a significant discount
from the list price of $2000/A quantity 1. Promotional pricing is
also extended to documentation and multiple RTU's.

Note: See separate e-mail message for details on the SPARCompiler
announcement and pricing on all compiler products
