     This account was written for the 8th Infantry Division, though
there is considerable mention of the 28th Division, in which brother Rudolph
Hough was Company
Commander as a 1st Lt.  He was eventually promoted to Captain.  The red
Division insignia may have originated as an arrowhead with the lower
one-third of the arrowhead sawed off.  After Hurtgen Forest, the 28th
became known as the Bloody Bucket Division, as the sawed off arrowhead
could also be seen as a red bucket or pail.  There is some discussion of
the role of the burgomasters, which Rudolph also talked about.
