Hello you all,
My earlier message should have mentioned that the Translatio celebrations are held on today's date, December 30th.
I watched some of the processions, and Mass, and Botafumeiro, earlier on TVE (channel 802 if you have Warner Time cable)
As mentioned earlier, with Warner Time you can subscribe to a package called "DTV Espanol Plus" for FIVE dollars a month (!).
The deal includes TVE, another TV station from Spain, which is pretty good and contains less government-related programs, and about 10-15 stations from all over Latin America. This DTV Espanol Plus offering is a terrific bargain since subscribing to Brasil's TV Globo alone costs $33.00 per month, and subscribing to Italy's RAI costs $11.oo for one station.
None of the channels mentioned above offer any English subtitles, the lack of which is a blessing for those wishing to learn, or perfect, or practice, their Spanish, Portuguese or Italian. Let's face it, one can only learn a language by jumping in its waters without help. Watching these unsubtitled foreign language channels one is forced to put the action together with the sound of the words being spoken and.... voila.
Hugs!
Rosina
