The figures were quoted to me, on Jan. 2,  by 6th very person that compiles them
At any rate, I´m getting a print out of the detailed comparative 2006´2009 pilgrims data (very, very detailed) and I´m sending it to Grant so that he post it,or whatever, in a desirable form.

Yesterday, at the Pilgrims´Mass there were 27 Koreans and 19 Brasilians that had completed the pilgrimage-  My heart wen out to the Brasilians since it is summer in their beautiful land aright now and I know, for a fact,that they dislike the cold enormously..... nevertheless they walked.
The sight of e tears of emotion running down the cheeks of the young Koreans made me cry as well.  <it was immensity touching.ç

There were 152,000 Compostela-receiving pilgrims in 2009. Will post the full, detailed stats as soon as I have some time.
Hello from Santiago on this, the first day since I got here, without constant near-torrential rain.
The only time that the cats-and-dogs rain stopped was during the hour preceding the opening of the Holy Door when he ceremonies took place outside on Quintana Square. If I were not a believer I would certainly be inclined to become one. Some people may say that it was a heck of coincidence. Could be, but Bill Moyers once said that coincidences are a way for God to remain anonymous.
It was really something else!

A 17% increase over last year, with a slight decrease in German Pilgrims receiving the Compostela.
