The Red albergue network of private albergues operates in Spain. They take resevrations as do other privately owned albergues. The municipal albergues and those run by Amigos groups and Confraternities do not.

Hi,
On reading these last few posts one thing is unclear to me. with regard 
to reservations are you talking about the Camino (Spain) or the Chemin 
(France) because the rules are, it would appear very different. In 
France the majority of hostels take advance bookings (not all) whereas 
as in Spain it's the other way about.
