Since January 133 000 hikers have been recorded , 50 % more than in the
Xacobeo 2004.
It has already exceeded the figure for all of 2008. August is always the
month with most pilgrims , in 2004 there were 45 600.
The numbers of pilgrims are often reduced significantly in November, but
this year with the visit of Pope Benedict XVI ,scheduled for 6th of
November, "is going to notice the influx quantitatively ," as predicted by
the delegate of the pilgrimage Compostela Cathedral.
In July, the route was used by almost 90 % more foreigners than in 2004.
