Been reading from afar.  I went on my first Camino 3 years ago without a 
phone, without a camera, without a GPS, etc. Everyone back home said, what 
if you get hurt or lost?  I said, well, who would I call anyway--are you 
coming from Colorado to rescue me?  I just went with the idea that I would 
muddle along however, language ability, walking ability, whatever, not 
withstanding.

And then, whenever I needed it, help showed up.  The Camino is magic like 
that.

So, all of you are right.  Take whatever you feel you need, and if you end 
up without something, it will be provided for you, you can be assured of 
that.
