[Gocamino] Aragon in my mind.... and oooops!

I saw Salamanca when I was studying in Madrid in 1981 and was absolutely astounded at its beauty and cultural ambience. I remember walking around the environs and noticing a large building covered with scallop shells. As I knew nothing at that time of the town's connection with the Camino -- although I had begun studying the pilgrimage, too -- I wondered through the years what the shells signified.

I grew quite attached to Salamanca and that time signified so much for me in my relationship with Spain itself. So it's been immensely satisfying to be reminded of that glorious connection.

As soon as I'm free in a season other than summer or Christmas, I'm walking that route.

Buen Camino
