I agree on both counts.  There is also the issue of peregino-generated graffiti, a problem that will be harder to deal with. Although I have seen attempts to blot out the graffiti it always seems to come back.  The ethic regarding trash dumping and graffiti along the Camino seems to vary from country to country, and from age group to age group.  
 
I thank the South Africans for initiating the clean up, but I find it really sad that they even had to.
