[Gocamino] mail drops/care packages?

The camino is not like the AT, PCT, or any other wilderness trail.
Unless you have unusual needs, there is no point in having anything
sent, since most common foods and toiletries are available for
purchase along the way. SdeC is another matter. Many pilgrims like to
have nicer things to wear than their pilgrim clothes once they get to
SdeC and thus will send such things there. I no longer have that
address at hand, but I am sure that there are many members that will
come up with it soon.

P.S. I have also seen pilgrims, walking packless along the trail,
suddenly showing up in SdeC carrying the full packs that had
previously been carried by one of the many transport services
available along the way. Now why on earth didn't I do it that way??

Hello,
I am in the final planning stages for my pilgrimage, and I am
wondering if
anyone has any advice regarding care packages/food drops. When doing
long-distance hikes in the States, such as the Appalachian Trail, hikers
will often send packages (food, extra toiletries) addressed to
themselves
ahead of time to pick up in a particular town on their itinerary. I have
friends who want to send things ahead for me, but I'm not sure where
they
ought to send such packages. Is it possible to have a package sent to
and
held at any hostels or albergues? Is it better to do this at post
offices?
Is this a common practice on el Camino?
Many thanks,
KM
