Travelling the Camino in September, I found out from Noelia at Camino del
Perdon in Uterga and from a gentleman at the Hostel Guzman El Bueno in Leon,
that the number of pilgrims in September seemed more than in the traditional
high months of July-August. BTW the Uterga Albergue has 4 or 5 additional
habitaciones in a new building about 300 meters from the original one.

The butofumiero was flying the two days I was in Santiago. That surprised
me because I thought that they were going to restrict it to feast days.
Other pilgrims also saw it flying on other days....that is good news. One
can't put their hand on the marble column or knock heads with the maestro,
that whole area is cordoned off.

We watched the sunset from the beach on the opposite side of Fisterra from
where you enter from the Camino...the wilder beach with the waves, and saw
the most beautiful sunset complete with a bunch (pod?) of porpoises jumping
happily (to also see the sunset???). A great experience, especially with a
bottle of albarino.

I and my wife made extensive use of Grant's website for transportation, and
it was a great help. Thanks Grant!!!!! I forgot to ask the cabbies at the
bus station in Pamplona the current fees for a taxi to St Jean though...I
thought that might be of help to others...maybe I will remember in April
when I go through there on my way to Jaca.
