The number of pilgrims earning, and receiving, a Compostela this year up to the end of September was 101,201; as of today,  October 19, they numbered  108, 540

On the average, since the end of September, Compostela deserving pilgrims have been showing up at the Pilgrims’ office at a rate of about 250 per day, and they keep coming. 

Taking into consideration that the reliable estimates' data show that one of about 5 pilgrims, at any one time,  comply with the requirements to earn a Compostela, that works out to more than a half million so far…. and the year isn’t over yet!

 

During 2006 the number of pilgrims awarded a Compostela was 100,377. They came from one hundred and nine different countries, as follows:

 

1 each from; Angola, Green Cape (?), Cyprus, Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Feroe Islands (?????), Laos, Macedonia, Mauritania, Monaco, Mongolia, Pakistan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Syria, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe.

2 each from:  Dutch Antilles, Algiers, Belize, Byelorussia, Cameroon, Egypt, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Nigeria and Yugoslavia.

3 each from: El Salvador, Iran and Namibia (?).

4 from Malta.

5 each from: Albania and San Marino

6 from Malaysia.

7 each from: Paraguay, Serbia and Ukraine.

8 each from: Guatemala and Singapore.

9 each from: Panama and Turkey.

10 each from: China and India.

11 from the Dominican Republic.

13 from Bulgaria.

14 from Nicaragua.

15 from Taiwan.

16 from Bolivia.

18 each from: Costa Rica, Croatia, Lithuania and the Republic of Korea.

20 each from: Greece and Morocco.

22 from Iceland.

24 each from: the Philippines and Luxemburg.

25 from Cuba.

26 from  Letonia (?).

30 from Russia.

37 from Puerto Rico.

42 from Israel.

45 from Rumania.

46 from Peru.

60 from Ecuador.
