Glenn posted the same query on Ultreya and received this reply from
Cheri:

When I arrived at Eunate there was a tour bus just arriving with a
tour in progress. I lingered near the group and caught part of the
information. One ritual that the guide explained was how to enter
the building. She said that to enter one should walk barefoot three
times counterclockwise around the outer walkway and three times
clockwise around the inner walkway. The outer walkway is grassy and
quite pleasant to walk on in bare feet. However, the inner walkway
is paved with small rocks which make the walking more difficult.

After the tour bus left I did indeed enter this way, contemplating
each step. After the pleasant walk in the grass and the not-so-
pleasant walk on the stones, I was relieved and delighted to enter
the building. I don't know if this was just for tourists or if it
has some historical truth to it, but it made for a nice introduction
to enter the building.

Cheers,
Cheri Powell

Interesting ritual. Must keep this in mind for the next sojourn.

Buen Camino,

Grant
