Several walking tours in Santiago and its environs have been added to the existing ones commencing this month. But the one that is novel and, to some, eyebrow-raising, is the one initiated by a Santiago tourist agency called "Compostur". They are offering a walking, bicycling, eight-days package for those interested to do the Santiago pilgrimage in a manner that would earn them the Compostela.? Those interested will walk from Astorga or bicycle from Leon, accompanied by guides and service vehicles to transport the backpacks, food, water, and so on.? The tour people will secure accommodations in 3 star hotels throughout until arrival at Santiago. The cost is 1,470 Euros per person (double room) for those starting out in Leon and 1,565 Euros for those starting out in Astorga.
According to the report in the Voz, 40% of the walking tours have already been sold.
Further, those interested can take themselves to Leon or Astorga to commence the effort or can get in touch with "Incolsa" the municipal tourism office in Santiago, that will see to it that they are taken to the desired starting-out point.
Well, I guess that's one way to do it.
