It is hand written, on very old yellow paper in fading brown ink, and it can made out as  d'Assisi, di Assisi, or de Assisi, which as such would have been a courtesy concession to the Aragonese hosts, since the "di" or  "da" meant to denote the home town of the person.

Does it actually say "Francesco de Assisi"?  Or is it di Assisi?  I'm just curious because there would have been a Florentine version of Italian in the 12th century.  De is the Spanish preposition.  I would think that this would serve to help authenticate the signature.
