Bueno,

The finale of the Camino Primitivo or the slide into Galicia on the Camino
del Norte would be cooler and less crowded. Keep in mind that most of
Galicia will be on the humid side. This means that when it is hot (and that
definitely happens in August), it will be hot and humid. You also encounter
more precitipation once you are in Galicia, so a good ventilated rain jacket
is highly recommended. Santander is a convenient place to join the Camino
del Norte, Oviedo is good for the Camino Primitivo. If you start the Camino
del Norte at San Sebastian, be prepared for hills hills and a few more
hills. Lots of elevation gain and give on the northern traverse of the 'del
Norte. A main reason the French route became so popular was the relative
easy of passage (read: 'flat'). The Northern and Primitive Routes were there
first but fell into disuse as the Camino Frances was developed.

Buen Camino,

Grant
