[Gocamino] walking in June/July

Veteran walkers,
   Is it ok to plan to walk in the end of June/beginning of July?  I'm familiar with southern Spain, but have never been in the Camino area in the summer.  My Spanish friend says it's too hot to walk.  What do you guys think?
