ah, Rosina! Don't doubt us!

So much is afoot right now on the albergue front, it's enough to make me believe the stars are lining up!
I do not in any way want to be divisive, but I am not a great fan of waiting around for exclusive committees to agree on forming a group to study the possible issues, etc. etc.

I've wanted to be part of an American albergue project since way before I ever heard of Americans on the Camino. I think this process is a self-selecting one. We who are really serious about it know who we are; I have also started hearing from new and fascinating people who have "lurked" hereabouts for a while and are ready to start coalescing. (I did some very pointed praying about this earlier this month, and I firmly believe this is the direct result of a St. James Novena!)

As I've told some of the group before, my husband and I are leaving the USA in June and relocating to northern Spain with this albergue in mind. We have very few preconceptions as to where/who/when, and especially How Much $; we have enough income to support ourselves and we are willing to do whatever "on the ground" exploring is needed, and/or as much as we can with our Spanish As A Second Language ability.

We haven't picked a place to settle yet on the Caminos. We're hoping the Camino will pick a place for us, and the Camino network will make it clear when and where we should settle in. It's a leap of faith, totally counterintuitive to many security-minded Americans, I know. But God chooses the foolish to confound the wise, doesn't he? If a group of like-minded people is interested in getting behind such an enterprise, and it starts to come together at this point, it would be an amazing and utterly cool answer to prayer. I would be over-the-moon delighted to have my American friends take a guiding interest in this.

But I'm ready to entertain any/all suggestions, ideas, instructions, and inspirations. Maybe one of you already knows where Patrick and I should start looking...once we're finished with our volunteer hospitalero gigs!

The Camino called to us all already, and made pilgrims of us. This is the road it continues to call me onto. I'm prepared to start out on my own, or at least with my partner. I fully expect to form a new "camino family" along the Way.
  What about you all?
  Rebekah
