Hello you all,
I'm sure we all remember that for quite a few years (too many, in my view) pilgrims had to walk and walk through Burgos, almost to the outskirts, to find the albergue; it was situated in the middle of a large park area, almost in th outskirts of the city. The buses to and from the center of lovely Burgos were very infrequent and the whole experience of finding and going to the albergue rather tiring.
Well, the Camino overseers in Castille have announced that on August 1st., two days hence, the Santiago y Santa Catalina albergue will reopen. This albergue is comfortable, welcoming, well furbished and, best of all, a scant few meters from the magnificent Burgos Cathedral.
Linda Dav in her magnificent book, "The pilgrimage Road to Santiago", writes that she could spend days admiring the beauties of the Cathedral and waxes eloquent about the history and preciousness of its artistic marvels.
I'm awfully glad that instead of spending hours going to the old albergue pilgrims will now be able to spend the time admiring the wonders of the Cathedral.
Warm regards,
Rosina
