[Gocamino] Use of Debit Cards

Hello all,

I have a Visa card from my bank that can be used as either a debit or credit 
card at stores or ATMs in this country.  Can I use it as a debit card in 
Spain and have the money taken from my checking account or does it have to 
be used as a credit card?  The reason, of course, is not only do you avoid 
interest charges, but also (at least with my credit cards) higher 
transaction costs.
