[Gocamino] fall weather

I did it in 2002 from mid september to mid october. I definitely did
not need long underwear. I am not sure what a toque is - I thought
that it was the name for a chef's hat. I have brought gloves on a
couple of trips. I did need them once and that was in early june of
2000 on the meseta which is noted for its summer heat. I had gotten
an early start on what turned out to be a very cold morning and
needed everything for the first hour or so - until the sun baked the
extra stuff off of me.

The sleeping bag was a must. We were not allowed into the refugio in
Roncesvalles without one. When I was assigned a bunk there, I left my
entire pack on it to show that it was taken. Later, I found the pack
removed and someone else in the bunk. When I complained to the bunk
assignment warden, he reluctantly assigned me another one and told me
that I was supposed to have taken my sleeping bag out of the pack and
to have left the bag on the bunk to show that it was already
assigned. Camera (and cell phone) power units are an iffy situation.
There are not usually a lot of outlets and there is more and more
demand for them. I avoided the issue by sticking to a camera that
uses AA power cells which are available cheap everywhere. I also had
a few NiMH cells and a solar powered charger that I could hang on my
south facing shoulder as I walked.

regards,

Bob

P.S. If anyone noticed that I avoided use of the term "battery" and
thought that it might be deliberate, they are quite right. Members
with a technical bent will understand why, whether or not they agree
with my being so picky about language. Those who are not probably
wouldn't care one way or another.

Hi,

We will be walking through September until the middle of October.
Aside from the rain gear should one also bring the long underwear,
toque and gloves? Can one manage with a sleeping bag liner in the
refugios or is a sleeping bag a must?
Also, is it possible to charge camera batteries in the refugios? Are
there enough outlets?

Regards,
Vera
