Good advice, Philip. For my 60th birthday, I walked the KATY trail here in Missouri. It is 225 miles long (give or take), and found out that if I took care of my feet, I was able to continue, and I did grow stronger every day.

Tips..Take care of your feet, back light, keep a journal, take lots of photos..don't over due it. You will get stronger everyday..if you take care of your feet..I rubbed my feet with Ramono alcohol..available in spain, light rub of vicks vapor rub, and baby powder..before you startand then every three hours. When you stop for breaks take off your boots..get a good pair of walking boots! Phil Judd
