You mention that people had problems two years ago.
The timing sounds just about right, as in '02 I was
told there were indeed problems with the water around
the area (Manjarin and environs) where I got sick with
gastroenteritis, and pilgrims were advised that summer
to drink bottled water.

That problem seems to have cleared up - and even then
a majority didn't get sick, although some people did.
