Bike Tools and/or "Swiss" army knives

For bikers a universal bike tool is essential. However, especially after what happened in Madrid, you will not be able to bring it in any luggage that does not go in the cargo hold on the plane. Use duck tape to fasten it to your bike. You will need it to reassemble your bike in Spain. The same goes for the "Swiss" army knife, which is wonderfully useful for hikers.

Another thing that many people carried was a small flashlight. In some albrgues after lights out, the lights are OUT. If you need to use the "servicios" you will be very thankful for the flashlight.

Also, bicyclers should carry an extra set of brake pads. My husband spent an hour in El Acebo adjusting his worn out pads. It was a scary descent until we got to a bike shop in Ponferrada
