I appreciated the sentiments that provoked one of these groups to post about
the pilgrims in India who were part of the tragedy there and around the
Indian Ocean.

My nephew, who made the pilgrimage to Santiago in the summer of 2003, was
inspired by his journey to study pilgrimage elsewhere, specifically, India
and Nepal. He's been in India since Augsust, to return home yesterday. A
surfer, we expected him to frequent the beach before returning...

And return he did, this morning...he was in Bangkok when the earthquake and
tsunami hit, but is now home in LA. We all pray for those who will neer
make another pilgrimage and certainly will not come "home".

Today is one of the 12 Holy Nights known as the Feast of the Innocents.
Christian lore has it that the souls of the babies that were killed by Herod
in his fervor to find the "promised messiah" formed a "screen" to keep the
Babe and his family safe as they fled to Egypt.

May the souls of these innocents all over Asia bring prayers for peace as
they find their way Home.
